Charnwood Forest Rocks
Charnwood Forest has truly distinctive geoheritage, including globally important occurrences of Precambrian fossils – that include some of the oldest evidence of animal life. The project will address some of the principle threats to Charnwood Forest’s increasingly vulnerable geoheritage and re-build capacity for geoheritage conservation to secure a sustainable future for some of the world’s most important sites.

THE ACTION
Aims
The project aims to better protect and interpret Charnwood Forest’s internationally important geoheritage.
To rebuild local capacity to manage and interpret geological sites. To develop appropriate conservation practices and principles and to lay the foundations for an application for UNESCO Global Geopark status.
