Meet Geopark volunteer Tim

Meet Geopark volunteer Tim, as he reflects on his experiences supporting the conservation of Charnwood Forest. Tim has experience across several of our volunteering groups, including geoconservation, site maintenance, and the new Mount St Bernard Abbey group:

I really enjoy being active outdoors and volunteering keeps both my mind and body active. It can be hard work, but I like the sense of achieving something positive for the locality. Our sessions improve the natural environment, and with that I’m learning new skills, including woodland management, woodworking and even getting up trees with a safety harness! I feel well supported by the Geopark, who consider our health and safety carefully, and I get to meet people I wouldn’t normally meet. We’re an enthusiastic bunch, even when the weather is rubbish!
