Free Public Talk: Time Team’s Professor Carenza Lewis Coming to Charnwood Forest Geopark!

To coincide with a Time Team-style archaeological dig that will be undertaken in May at Beaumanor Park for local secondary schools, the University of Lincoln’s Professor Carenza Lewis will be coming to Woodhouse Eaves to talk about the importance of archaeological test-pitting to our understanding of history at scales ranging from street-by street stories of local places to global phenomena such as the Black Death plague pandemic.  Professor Lewis will also talk about the dig at Beaumanor Park and what this means for local students. Additionally, she will give locals a heads up on what we’ve found so far! From medieval hunting ground to WWII clandestine communications site, we can’t wait to learn the secrets of Beaumanor’s exciting past! Both the archaeological investigations and the talk have been organised by the Charnwood Forest Geopark team and funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Although this event is free, you must register to attend as numbers are strictly limited. Use the button on the right, or the link HERE.
