Our Christmas Message 2024

From everyone here at the Charnwood Forest Geopark team, we wanted to wish you a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year for 2025.

We are so incredibly grateful for your support and contributions this year, and look forward to achieving even more for our region – with your help – next year.

A Message from Cllr Martin Cartwright, Chair of the Charnwood Forest Regional Park Board:

As Christmas approaches, and with it the end of the year, I wanted to express my thanks to all those who have contributed to the successes of Charnwood Forest Geopark in 2024. From our amazing volunteers who have helped us rediscover our geological sites, to the hundreds and thousands of people who have attended our events to celebrate the Geopark – we couldn’t have done it without you. Next year will be an important time for the Geopark, as we take some big steps forward in our application to become a UNESCO Global Geopark. At Charnwood Forest, we know our primary strength is the partnership of organisations our Geopark is built on – stronger, even, than the Mountsorrel granodiorite! – so thank you to all that our partner organisations do to support the Geopark. As Chair of the Charnwood Forest Regional Park Board, can I wish you a very Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year, and we look forward to seeing you again in the Geopark in 2025.

With festive good wishes,

Your Charnwood Forest Geopark Team
