This Easter holiday, visitors to the Bradgate Park Visitor centre will have the opportunity to delve deeper into the ancient fossils of Charnwood Forest, through a temporary exhibit on our local fossilĀ Charnia masoni. The exhibit features two interpretation panels that reveal the amazing international significance of this 560 million year old fossil, as well as a chainsaw carved sculpture of the fossil, made by Leicestershire artist Peter Leadbeater. Also on display are a number of fossil models decorated by local schoolchildren, as well as 3D-printed models of the Geoparks ancient Precambrian fossils.
The Visitor Centre is open every day of the Easter school holidays, 10am-3pm. For more information on planning you visit, see the Bradgate Park website.
Thank you to our friends at the Bradgate Park Trust for hosting this exhibit, which has been funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
