Outdoor Learning Takes the Spotlight at Education Hub Event

Familiar faces and enthusiastic newcomers came together in November for an Education Hub Event focused on inspiring outdoor learning within Charnwood Forest.

On the evening of Thursday 20th, local schools, and education groups from across Charnwood Forest and beyond gathered for our termly Education Hub Event. This time the event was hosted at the Outdoor Learning Centre at Beaumanor Hall and celebrated the joys and possibilities of outdoor learning. The session provided an opportunity for educators to network, share ideas and explore a wide range of resources spanning local history, geography, and science – all designed to support meaningful learning beyond the classroom.

The session also included a first look at two new resources. The first was a STEM Outdoor Workshop, a series of forensic-style activities that encourages young people to investigate evidence using simple scientific experiments and analytical skills. The second was a Map Skills resource developed using a specially created local map produced by the Leicestershire Footpaths Association. This series of activities gives young people the opportunity to build map and navigation skills while learning more about Charnwood Forest’s landscape and heritage.

Throughout the evening, educators exchanged experiences, discussed opportunities, and connected with others across Charnwood Forest. The next Education Hub Event will be taking place in February and is open to all schools and education groups within and around Charnwood Forest. Please do get in touch if you would like more information or would like to attend.
