Loughborough Observatory for the Visualisation of the Natural and Built Environment (LOVE)

LOVE Project

This research project, led by Loughborough University, encourages residents living in Loughborough’s urban and suburban areas to live active and healthy lives that are connected to local heritage. The Geopark is proud to support the LOVE Project.

Connecting Communities With Their Local Area

We are creating an interactive, inclusive, and accessible digital trail, using StoryMap, that will link Loughborough Town with Charnwood Forest Geopark, via Loughborough University. This tool will provide members of the community with an opportunity to explore their relationship with local history and the natural environment, enhancing their lived experience; something often overlooked.

From Loughborough to the Geopark

The LOVE Project area seeks to join the town of Loughborough, to part of Charnwood Forest Geopark – via Loughborough University. The project area (marked by the blue dashed line on the map), contains the Loughborough wards of Charnwood Borough Council, with the Parish of Woodhouse. It includes the town of Loughborough, villages such as Nanpantan, Woodhouse Eaves, and Woodhouse, and sites like The Outwoods and Beacon Hill.

Let Us Know Your Thoughts

Anyone with a connection to Loughborough can help shape our project. Our project allows participants to locate their individual lives in space and place through storytelling, by contributing their own stories and photographs to the project.

Details of our first in-person consultation event are below. If you would like to attend, please let us know HERE.

Monday 10th February, 5.30pm – Charnwood Arts, 27 Rectory Place, Loughborough, LE11 1UW
